Glipizide loaded transdermal matrix system containing different amounts of ethyl cellulose (EC) and polyvinylpyrrolidone K-30 (PVP) were prepared by the solvent evaporation technique. The combined effect of oleic acid (OA) and propylene glycol (PG) as penetration enhancers on the percutaneous permeation of drug was studied. The patches containing 5% OA+1% PG exhibited highest release rate and highest drug permeation at the end of 24 h. Moreover, in vivo studies with glipizide showed significant hypoglycemic activity.
