Cytisine was included as a model drug in the matrix. The investigations carried out in vitro have shown that the crosslinking of Polyox results in hydrogels, that swell within 120 - 180 min and the loaded drug in them is with a retarded release, The Cytisine concentration in the matrix and the degree of crosslinking turned out to be the major factors determining the release rate.
